The other day in a vision I saw that I was driving a car uphill but that I couldn’t open my eyes, I couldn’t see where I was driving. I knew I should pull over or I would crash but for some reason I kept on driving. And then further on I saw a bunch of cars in a traffic jam that were going slow because a car had crashed further up the road, and we all had to go around it.
I believe this is a warning picture that many are continuing on in life, but they don’t know where they are going and yet they continue and God is warning us to ‘stop’ to ‘pull over’, to ‘rest a while’ so that we can see and not crash.
Often when we don’t know where we are going or what we are doing, we continue in what we know and carry on, but we cannot afford to do this as it will not only cause damage to us but also will affect those around us.
Many of us are ‘falling asleep’ at the wheel and it is important to pull off at the ‘rest areas’ indicated in order not to crash. This is not a one off but a continual thing that needs to take place as we travel along.
It’s a simple analogy and yet a very powerful one as in the natural we all will pull off yet in the ‘spiritual’ we don’t tend to take the same action, but we need to.
If we find ourselves not knowing where we are going or what we are doing or what God is saying to us, then we need to take some time to find out, to pull over and wait upon the Lord. In that place, we realize how ‘tired’ we are, and we often will see how little things have come in for instance, fear instead of faith, depression instead of joy etc.
God wants us to prosper, be fruitful and to overflow with rivers of living water, that we bring life wherever we go, and so if we find ourselves perhaps not having the same joy we once did, hearing the voice of God clearly, perhaps not having the same passion or hunger for Him or His word, then I encourage you to take a moment in a rest area, to hear what He is saying, to hear His heart for you and His plan for you, because He is good and has good plans for you.
Perhaps we need to readjust direction, if need be, so that you don’t crash but continue on your way, not only for yourself but also for those around you. Perhaps in your marriage you need some fine tuning, perhaps in your health, perhaps in your finances you need to adjust some spending habits.
Whatever it may be that the Lord wants to show where you find yourself at the moment where you can’t see a way through, take a moment and come away with him. And like a Gps in your car when it warns you that you have gone the wrong way, you may need to go back a different way to get to where you are going as the way you are heading will cost you time as there is a crash ahead.
Something for myself this morning I recognized that I was panicking about some things that are coming up and I thought why am I am panicking? Panic is not of God so why is that there? Some readjustment needed to take place. And in taking a moment in a rest area with the Lord, he showed me where that came in and why, what to do about it. I was able to bring it to the light with the truth of the word of God who is peace and not panic. Knowing that God will and does supply all of my needs and has gone before me and was reminded of testimonies in my life where He has done that and so peace, truth and a way forward came into the situation rather than panic. But without taking a moment to see that I would have continued on, and I know further down the line that panic would have caused a crash and I would have affected those around me as I would have stressed out and released some of that panic onto others instead of the peace that is mine in Christ Jesus.
Eph 6:18 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
So, I encourage you to take a moment to come into a ‘rest area’ before carrying on driving to see and to hear from the Lord as you may be falling asleep at the wheel. Bless you all this week with ‘eyes to see what the Spirit is saying’.
