The past week has been remarkable, and I’ve never before sensed the profound impact of people’s words so intensely—words that can either give life or bring death, instill hope or cast despair. They are mere words, yet they carry an inflection, a hint, that can completely alter one’s perspective and potentially change life’s direction.
I recently dreamt that God was constructing a house entirely of glass, which I found unsettling as it symbolized vulnerability and total exposure, where everything is visible to all. We are akin to a spiritual house, and God intends to build us in such a way that nothing remains concealed, leaving us open and exposed. This is reflective of the message in 1 John: in Christ, there is no concealment, no darkness at all. As we walk in God’s light, we experience true fellowship with one another.
We often hesitate to share our most difficult experiences, our vulnerabilities, our battles, typically because we’ve been wounded or judged in the past for opening up. For many reasons, we opt to keep these experiences private. However, it is in vulnerability, in sharing with others, that we find encouragement, discover truth, and receive help in times of need.
I am truly thankful for those around me who have been, and continue to be, God’s support in my time of need. The words of encouragement, the spoken truth that keeps you steadfast in Christ, the prayers that bring peace amidst the storm.
Thus, my encouragement to everyone today is to embrace your vulnerability in times of need, to consider reaching out and sharing your struggles, for you are not alone. God has provided us with a community, and everything we need is within it. Sometimes, it’s in the act of sharing that we find the support we need or are desperately searching for. God has provided for us; we just need to reach out and grasp what is already present around us, which may come from or through the people He has placed in our lives.
